I’m Daniel, and I design and make clothes – and the occasional adjacent object – under the name COAMREY. Knitting is the through-line, but crochet, hand-sewing, and embroidery all turn up regularly, often in the same piece. I’m drawn to texture, ornament, and the kinds of details that only reveal themselves on the second look: a stitch you can’t quite place, a colourway that shouldn’t work but does, a finish that took longer than anyone would reasonably suggest.
Most of what I make is one-off – for myself, for commissions, or for the slightly indulgent pleasure of seeing whether an idea will actually hold together. I document the process on Instagram as @coamrey, where you’ll find finished pieces, half-finished pieces, and a fairly honest account of what it takes to get from yarn (or fabric) to garment.
